Callwave continues to impress
My love affair with Callwave hasn’t stopped. This free service continues to impress me.
Not only do I love their SMS voicemail notification feature, but I just installed their Vista Sidebar gadget which is completely and utterly sweet and makes the normally painful tasks of listening to voicemail so easy.
After you install the CallWave Sidebar gadget, it shows up in your sidebar uninstrusively with the # of missed calls in the lower left corner:
![]()
When you click on the gadget, there is a flyout showing your call log:
![]()
What’s even sweeter is that when the caller has left a voicemail, you can click on it and play the voicemail from within the gadget itself.

Not external media player launched, no extra windows. Nice sleek integration, I love it.
Callwave, great job!
Update: Apparantly the Callwave gadget doesn’t officially support 64-bit Vista, so the work-around discovered by Roscoe Brooks is as follows
Until CallWave addresses this issue, or Adobe releases a 64-bit version of Flash Player, you can try this workaround at your own risk:
1) Create a shortcut to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe” in your Startup folder.
2) Log Off and Log On to Windows. The 32-bit version of the Sidebar should now override the 64-bit version and the Callwave Gadget should work. This workaround worked well for me, but it could have unintended consequences for your other Gadgets.

The Gadget works great on 32-bit versions of Vista but if you’re running 64-bit Vista, there’s a problem: it will not play any voicemails. CallWave doesn’t seem to have any information on this problem, but I did some research and discovered a fix, which I posted on my (very) new blog.
Hmm, its a good looking gadget too. Hmmm things to come…
Nice software I just wish the phone networks here in Ireland would do the same it’s would be really useful
I’ve just seen this (9 months late!) and some of the features look great. One think though, it lloks like a US only service at the moment which sucks. Receving my voicemail as an email attachement would be great
I have callwave and when ever i try to place a call or send fax or listen my messages then adope reader will pop up and says ” adope cannot open 43432421312 balalaba.xif file or email was cruupted same thing like this can any one tell me how to fix this problem
I real do appreciate your input!
