Coffee shop etiquette

View Comments

Here I am sitting at a coffee house in First Hill and beside the most annoying man on earth.

Reason #1: Loud talker

Does he really need to talk on his cell phone for 15 mins at a time at full volume? I really, really don’t need to know that you ordered a bicycle for your kid nor any details on why your order from Omaha Steaks is delayed.

Reason #2: Wifi freeloader

Not only is he a loud talker, but he’s also a Wifi free loader. Come into the coffee shop, don’t buy anything from this place and use the wifi while drinking a gallon size Jamba juice. Nice buddy. Admittedly this is petty, but I’m seriously annoying at Reason #1. Of all days to forget my iPod.. damn it.

Update: Mr. Loud-Talking-Jamba-Juicer just called Victoria’s Secret customer service. Apparently he was dissatisfied with the 38-C he ordered for his wife. There are some things you’d prefer not to know.

Sometimes it seems they are talking for your benefit and not the person on the other end of the line - incredibly annoying ( I once plucked a mobile phone out of such a person's hand and threw it out of the open window - they were not best pleased, especially as the train was between stations :-)
  • I think I may have the worst example sitting next to me at the net cafe. Her laptop is full blast and she's humming to the music and sighing every few seconds. I'm about to sledgehammer it.
  • Does the loud talker know you took his picture! LOL
  • Too much information!
