2 words: RFID Passports.

1 more word: Nightmare.

My fears about RFID Passports are being exacerbated by a story over at Cnet – Flaw exploited in RFID-enabled passports:

“Security researchers have released proof-of-contact code that they say enables an attacker to read the passport number, date of birth, and passport expiration date from passports with RFID tags enabled.

This just adds more fuel to the privacy and security fire over these new passports.  Previous fuel:

Yikes.  The last oversight is the most scary because you can imagine attacks where you scan for Passports of citizens from specific countries to set off bombs or other nefarious things.  I feel like I’m in Minority Report except 48 years early.
